According to the Global Market Research by ESOMAR, the market research industry in Vietnam holds huge potential opportunity to further expand. The Vietnam market research industry has been steadily growing at a two-digit pace in the recent years with annual revenue at roughly 40 million US dollars whereas this figure only counted to 6% in 2010 in total Asia Pacific region. With such moderate annual revenue but speedy growth, the market research industry in Vietnam has much more space to expand than other countries such as Philippines, Malaysia or Thailand where its annual revenue already counts from 80 million to 140 million US dollars.
With promising expansion of the industry, talents in market research would be in high needs in the near future. Thus, in an effort to assist in providing training and career opportunities for local Vietnamese students in Market research, Kantar Worldpanel launched the Kantar Worldpanel Business Contest starting from this year, 2013, in Ho Chi Minh City. The competition aimed at students in their third or fourth year of bachelor degree with high interest in marketing and market research. After two months of competition and training, the winners of the Kantar Worldpanel Business Contest 2013 were:
• Gold Winner: Phan Thi Xuan Minh, 3rd year student, Foreign Trade University
• Silver Winner: Pham Thi Thanh Nga, 4th year student, Foreign Trade University
• Bronze Winner: Nguyen Ngoc Hanh Chau, 4th year student, Foreign Trade University
Last Thursday, July 4th, the 3 winners together with the 6 excellent finalists in the Case Challenge round of the Kantar Worldpanel Business Contest 2013 (KWBC 2013) – were honorably recognized in the Award Ceremony hosted at Norfolk Hotel. The ceremony created a great chance for networking between the finalists and the professionals at Kantar Worldpanel, who all shared the passion of market research and marketing.
In its first launch, KWBC has attracted talented students from 8 major universities in Ho Chi Minh city including: RMIT Vietnam, Foreign Trade University, University of Economics HCMC, University of Economics and Laws, International University, University of Marketing and Finance, University of Social Sciences & Humanities and Hoa Sen University. The competition started from early May and came to its final stage after two months. Yet, these last two months would be a memorable time to most of the contestants. “Challenging, competitive and joyful - these are the few words to describe KWBC from my perspective.”, commented Pham Thi Thanh Nga, the silver winner of KWBC 2013. KWBC 2013 was not all about the competition alone. It is the combination of training, developing and challenging. One of the unique value of the KWBC 2013 was the training opportunity for local students, which was well-shaped in short yet inspiring Panel School delivered by business leaders of Kantar Worldpanel Vietnam.
In recognition of their great talents, the final winners were all awarded with certificates, prizes in cash, employment/internship opportunities and tickets to Kantar Worldpanel Annual Conference 2013. “At the end of the day, the biggest prize was not the award, but the experience and insight we gained from being a part of this challenge", concluded the gold winner - Phan Thi Xuan Minh, 3rd year student of Foreign Trade University. We believe this was true, not only to Xuan Minh, but to every student who was willing to sign up for the challenge and pay every effort to take part in the competition.
“We are passionate about providing training and career opportunities for local students,” noted David Anjoubault, General Manager of Kantar Worldpanel Vietnam. “This competition shines the spotlight on young people who have a passion in market research and marketing. Through Kantar Worldpanel Business Contest, we expect to foster the young, dynamic and talented students in Vietnam and assist them in building a platform to inspire further success in their career pursuit.”
