FMCG Monitor: Q3 2019
Inflation rate continues to decelerate in Q3 2019, indicating improved economy and higher propensity to spend. This reflected in FMCG spending which continues to increase quarter on quarter, as more Filipino homes buy more often and in larger quantities. Channel-wise, hyper-supermarkets and convenience stores outpace growth of traditional trade.
Focusing on convenience stores, growth in spend has been aggressive year-on-year. Aside from snacks, other categories also show potential in the latest read. More than ever, convenience plays a bigger role in driving retailer choice as Filipinos seek greater accessibility and an easier shopping experience.
